On April 13, 2016, USCIS published a revised version of Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, which requires a preparer or interpreter to complete and sign the entire preparer or interpreter section. To allow for a transition period, USCIS advised that applicants may submit either the previous or the new version of the form, even if there is no preparer and/or interpreter signature, until August 9, 2016. Between March 26, 2016, and April 8, 2016, USCIS inadvertently rejected some Form N-400 applications that did not contain a preparer and/or interpreter signature. Such applications may be resubmitted without a signature until August 9.
